Vermentino di Gallura DOCG
The production area is the territory of Gallura, placed in the North Eastern part of Sardinia, which extends almost entirely in the province of Olbia-Tempio, with a territorial appendix in the province of Sassari.
Its landscape is dominated by ancient granites, dating back to the paleozoic era, well smoothed and remodeled by atmospheric agents. The part most eroded by time has formed a granite breakdown of excellent porosity and with little presence of organic substance. Sometimes they have exchangeable potassium and rarely phosphorus.
These soil characteristics, combined with a temperate-warm climate, a constant mistral wind and a dense Mediterranean scrub, they are ideal for the production of Vermentino di Gallura.
It is in Gallura that Vermentino is in fact the most representative, fine and long-lived wine product, so much so that, in 1996, it obtained the DOCG (controlled and guaranteed designation of origin).
The DOCG Wine Production Area Vermentino di Gallura is located in: the former province of Olbia-Tempio and includes the territory of the municipalities of Aggius, Aglientu, Arzachena, Badesi, Berchidda, Bortigiadas, Budoni, Calangianus, Golfo Aranci, Loiri Porto San Paolo, Luogosanto, Luras, Monti, Olbia, Oschiri, Palau, S. Antonio di Gallura, S. Teodoro, S. Teresa di Gallura, Telti, Tempio Pausania and Trinità d'Agultu and Viddalba in the province of Sassari.
